Oil Pump: Installation

  1. Lubricate seal lip and outside diameter of oil seal with engine oil. Using Seal Installer (T81P-6700-A), install oil seal. Install new gasket on cylinder block.
  2. Prime oil pump with engine oil. Install oil pump on crankshaft. Use small screwdriver through pick-up tube to align oil pump gear with crankshaft. Ensure oil pump fits firmly on cylinder block.
  3. Install oil pump bolts. Ensure oil pump housing is even with bottom of cylinder block surface. Install pick-up tube with new gasket.
  4. To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Tighten all bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table at end of article. Fill crankcase with oil.
