Pinpoint Test WB Battery Input Warning Never Comes On Or Always Comes On
- Verifying Condition: Ensure that system for which warning comes on operates correctly. If system does not operate correctly, repair system as necessary. If system operates correctly, go to step 2).
- Observing Condition: Turn ignition on. Observe warning light. If warning is always on, go to step 3). If warning never comes on, go to step 7).
- Checking Switch: Turn ignition off to reset warning. Unplug connector from appropriate switch or module. Turn ignition on. Observe warning light.
- If warning comes on, go to step 5). If warning does not come on, service appropriate switch or module.
- Checking Wiring: Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check for continuity at wiring circuit at appropriate instrument cluster connector terminal. See BATTERY INPUT WARNING table.
- If no continuity exists, replace instrument cluster. If continuity exists, repair short in wiring circuit.
- Checking Switch: Turn ignition off. Unplug electrical connector from appropriate switch or module. Connect jumper wire between positive battery terminal and warning wiring circuit at switch or module.
- Turn ignition on. Observe warning light. If warning comes on, service switch or module. If warning does not come on, remove jumper wire and go to step 9).
- Checking Wiring: With jumper wire removed, turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check continuity between instrument cluster connector pin for appropriate warning circuit and connector at switch or module. See BATTERY INPUT WARNING table.
- If continuity exists, replace instrument cluster. If no continuity exists, repair open in wiring circuit.
