Pinpoint Test TC Temperature Gauge Display Blanks Out Thermometer Symbol, Displays 2 Top & 2 Bottom Bars
- Checking For Temperature Sender Short: Disconnect wiring from temperature sender, located on right side of engine, near No. 1 fuel injector. Turn ignition on. Temperature gauge should indicate cold and only bottom bar should appear.
- If temperature gauge indication is okay, replace temperature sender. If temperature gauge indication is not okay, go to step 3).
- Checking For Short In Wiring: Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect wiring from temperature sender, located on right side of engine, near No. 1 fuel injector.
- Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between connector C2-2 pin No. 21 (Red/White wire) and C2-1, pin No. 4 (Pink/Orange wire).
- If resistance is greater than 15,000 ohms, replace instrument cluster. If resistance is less than 15,000 ohms, check Red/White wire to temperature sender for short circuit.
