Pinpoint Test SK Speed Control Indicator In Instrument Cluster Does Not Come On
- Checking Speed Control Amplifier: Check whether vehicle is equipped with a Brown speed control amplifier. Speed control amplifier is located at left rear of engine compartment, near EEC module. It has a 6-pin and an 8-pin connector.
- If Brown speed control amplifier is installed, go to step 3). If Brown speed control amplifier is not installed, install correct amplifier and recheck operation.
- Checking Voltage At Speed Control Amplifier: Unplug connectors from speed control amplifier. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM measure voltage between Orange/Light Blue wire of 8-pin connector and Black wire of 6-pin connector.
- If voltage is approximately 5 volts, go to step 7). If no voltage exists, go to step 5).
- Checking Wiring: Using ohmmeter, check continuity of Orange/Light Blue wire of 8-pin connector and instrument cluster connector C2-2, pin No. 25. See Figure .
- If continuity exists, go to step 7). If no continuity exists, repair open circuit in Orange/Light Blue wire.
- Performing Display Test: Turn ignition on. Connect jumper wire between Orange/Light Blue wire of 8-pin connector and Black wire in 6-pin connector.
- If indicator light comes on, replace speed control amplifier. If indicator does not come on, go to step 9).
- Turn ignition on. Connect jumper wire between instrument cluster connector C2-2, pin No. 26 (Orange/Light Blue wire) and ground. See Figure .
- If indicator light does not come on, replace instrument cluster. If indicator does come on, check continuity of Orange/Light Blue wire between 8-pin connector and instrument cluster connector C2-2, pin No. 25. Repair wiring as necessary.
