Pinpoint Test SC Speedometer Always Indicates Too High Or Too Low

  1. Checking Odometer Accuracy: Over known distance, compare odometer indication with distance traveled. If odometer is okay, system is operating correctly. If indication is not correct, go to step 2).
  2. Checking Speed Sensor Driven Gear: Remove speed sensor from transmission. Ensure correct driven gear is installed for transmission, axle and tire combination. If gear is incorrect, install correct gear. If gear is correct, go to step 3).
  3. Checking Drive Gear: Ensure correct drive gear is installed on transmission output shaft. If drive gear is correct, replace instrument cluster. If drive gear is incorrect, install correct drive gear.
