Pinpoint Test FE CS Displayed, Gauge Blanks Out Fuel Tank Symbol, Lights 2 Top & 2 Bottom Bars Of Fuel Gauge

  1. Checking Fuel Tank Sending Unit & Wiring: Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Measure resistance between instrument cluster connector C2-1, pin No. 2 (Yellow/White wire) and connector C2-1, pin No. 4 (Pink/Orange wire) of wiring harness.
  3. Resistance should be greater than 5 ohms (normally 11-168 ohms). If resistance is within specification, replace instrument cluster. If resistance is not within specification, check for short in wiring harness or fuel tank sending unit.
  4. Checking Fuel Tank Sending Unit Wiring Harness: Disconnect negative battery cable. Lower fuel tank for access to fuel tank sending unit. Unplug harness connector from fuel tank sending unit.
  5. Measure resistance between instrument cluster connector C2-1, pin No. 2 (Yellow/White wire) and connector C2-1, pin No. 4 (Pink/Orange wire) of wiring harness.
  6. Resistance should be greater than 10,000 ohms. If resistance is as specified, replace fuel tank sending unit. If resistance is not as specified, repair fuel tank sending unit wiring.
