Hazard Warning Switch Test

  1. Disable air bag system. See AIR BAG article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIP Section. Check for blown hazard flasher fuse. Check hazard flasher unit for continuity. Hazard flasher unit is located at fuse block, under left dash. With hazard flasher unit removed, connect fused jumper wire between flasher terminals in fuse block.
  2. Set hazard flasher switch to ON position. Parking/turn signal lights should come on and remain on. If lights do not come on, check for battery voltage at White/Red wire terminal of hazard flasher switch connector.
  3. If voltage does not exist, check White/Red wire for open. If voltage exists at White/Red wire terminal of hazard flasher switch connector, unplug connector from switch. Set switch to ON position. Using DVOM, ensure continuity exists between all terminals except Orange/Yellow and Light Blue wire terminals. If continuity is not as described, replace switch.
