Low Fuel Indicator (Mark VIII)

  1. Turn ignition off. Unplug connectors from fuel gauge sending unit and message center. Check for continuity and shorts in Yellow/White wire between fuel gauge sending unit and message center. Check for continuity and shorts in Gray/Red wire between fuel gauge sending unit and ground. Repair wiring or connectors as necessary.
  2. Measure resistance between fuel gauge sending unit terminals. If resistance is 15-160 ohms, temporarily substitute known good message center. Retest system. If resistance is not as specified, replace fuel gauge sending unit.
