Temperature Gauge

  1. Ensure cooling system is functioning properly. Unplug sending unit connector. Connect 73-ohm resistor (or Rotunda Instrument Gauge Tester 021-00055 set to 73 ohms) between sending unit harness connector and ground. Turn ignition on.
  2. If gauge indicates COLD, replace 73-ohm resistor with 10-ohm resistor (or set tester to 10 ohms). Gauge should now indicate HOT. If gauge indicates as described, replace sending unit. If gauge does not indicate as described, check wiring for open or short. If no problem exists in wiring, replace gauge. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER R & I  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
