Oil Pressure Gauge
- Ensure battery voltage is present at fuses and battery terminal of cluster connector. See appropriate chassis wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER R & I under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- If gauge pointer does not move when engine is running and other gauges are operating normally, check engine oil pressure using manual gauge. If engine oil pressure is normal with manual gauge installed, turn off engine.
- For Mustang 5.0L, connect 22-ohm resistor (or Rotunda Instrument Gauge Tester 021-00055 set to 22 ohms) between oil pressure sensor harness connector and ground. For other models, connect jumper wire between oil pressure sensor harness connector and ground.
- Turn ignition on. If gauge indicates midscale, replace oil pressure sensor. If gauge does not indicate midscale, use DVOM to check for open or short in wiring between sensor and cluster. Repair as required. If no problem exists in wiring, replace gauge.
CAUTION:
DO NOT
apply 12 volts or a ground directly to temperature sender terminal during tests. Sender and gauge will be damaged.
