Installation (Cougar & Thunderbird)
- Clean sliding yoke splines and outside diameter. Inspect machined surface for nicks, scratches or foreign material. Apply lubricant to splines and outside yoke surface.
- Install yoke onto transmission output shaft and align shaft with companion flange. Install exposed bearing cups into companion flange with straps and bolts (single joint), or connect drive shaft flange to companion flange with bolts (constant velocity joint). To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Fill fuel tank.
NOTE:
DO NOT
allow end of shaft to hang free or bend at sharp angle.
