Double CARDAN Universal Joint: Disassembly

  1. Scribe alignment marks on all yokes for reassembly reference. Carefully clamp drive shaft in vise at stud yoke. Remove bearing snap rings from center socket yoke.
  2. Attach "C" clamp to center socket yoke bearing. Compress "C" clamp until bearing protrudes 3/8" (9.5 mm) out of yoke. Remove shaft from vise. Use vise to clamp bearing and tap flange until free. Repeat procedure to remove all bearings. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 .
