Differential - Positive Traction: Testing

To test Traction-Lok differential, raise one rear wheel. Remove wheelcover (if equipped), leave tire and wheel assembly on. Place transmission in Neutral. Attach a Traction-Lok Torque Adapter (T59L-4204-A) to wheel studs. See Fig 1 . Using torque wrench of 200 ft. lb. (271 N.m) minimum capacity, attach torque wrench to adapter. Rotate tire and wheel assembly by hand through one revolution and note torque reading during continuous rotation.

Rotating torque should be at least 20 ft. lbs. (27 N.m). Although initial break-away torque may be higher, disregard this reading. If rotating torque is less than specified, check differential for proper assembly.
