Pinion Flange & Oil Seal: Removal
- Raise vehicle. Remove wheels and brake drums. Scribe alignment marks on companion flange, yoke and drive shaft for installation reference. Remove drive shaft. Install plug in transmission extension housing to prevent oil leakage.
- Using an INCH lb. torque wrench, measure and record torque required to rotate pinion through several revolutions. Hold companion flange and remove pinion nut. Using Companion Flange Remover (T65L-4851-B), remove companion flange. Pry oil seal from axle housing using small pry bar. DO NOT damage sealing surface of axle housing.
