Checking Angle
- Vehicle must be at normal curb height. Curb height is measured vertically from top of axle housing tube to outboard edge of frame side rail. See Fig 1.
- Position "V" magnet of Pinion Angle Level Gauge (T86P-4602-A) on drive shaft. See Fig 2 (STEP I). Ensure magnet is away from welds and balance weights.
- From left side of vehicle, position level gauge on magnet with adjusting screw to left. Rotate adjusting screw until left edge of bubble is exactly on zero line.
- Place angle level gauge on circular bearing cap of "U" joint in same relative position as gauge was in on drive shaft. See Fig 2 (STEP II). Snap ring must be removed during reading.
- Read position of bubble left edge on scale to determine drive shaft angle. See PINION ANGLE SPECIFICATIONS TABLE. If angle is not as specified, go to PINION ANGLE ADJUSTMENT.
