Temperature Gauge Display Blanks Out Thermometer Symbol & Lights Top 2 & Bottom 2 Bars Of Gauge

  1. Unplug wire to temperature sender. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Temperature gauge should indicate cold with bottom bar illuminated. If temperature gauge indicates as specified, replace temperature sender.
  2. If temperature gauge does not indicate as specified, disconnect battery ground cable. Unplug wire to temperature sender. Remove cluster. Measure resistance between pins No. 4 and 8 of cluster connector "A". If resistance is greater than 15,000 ohms, replace cluster and affix odometer sticker to door pillar. If resistance is less than 15,000 ohms, Check wiring in circuit No. 39 for short circuits.
