CO Displayed, Gauge Blanks Out Fuel Tank Symbol & Lights Up Top 2 & Bottom 2 Bars Of Gauge

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable. Lower fuel tank to gain access to fuel sender connector. Unplug fuel sender connector. Jumper variable resistance terminal (circuit No. 29) and ground terminal (circuit No. 57) of harness together. Reconnect battery ground cable. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Check digital fuel remaining display for CO or CS. It may take several minutes for gauge to respond. If CO is displayed, go to step 3).
  2. If CS is displayed, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Measure resistance of fuel sender at sender terminals. Resistance should be 11-168 ohms. If resistance in not 11-168 ohms, replace sender. If resistance is 11-168 ohms, inspect fuel sender wiring connector female terminals for flash or loose fit. Repair as necessary.
  3. Disconnect battery ground cable. Remove cluster and secure connectors to keep them from shorting. Jumper variable resistance terminal and ground terminal of connector harness together at sender. Verify continuity between pins No. 6 and No. 8 of cluster connector "A". If continuity exists, replace cluster and affix odometer sticker to door pillar. If no continuity exists, repair fuel sender wiring for open circuit.
