Oil Pressure Indicator
- Turn ignition on. If indicator light is not on, ground oil pressure switch connector. If light fails to come on with lead grounded, check for burned out bulb and/or open in wiring circuit.
- If light stays on with engine running, and manual test gauge indicates engine has good oil pressure, disconnect oil pressure switch connector. If light goes out, replace oil pressure switch. If light stays on with switch disconnected, check for short in wiring circuit from oil pressure switch to indicator bulb. See appropriate chassis wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
NOTE:
On some models, the ENGINE indicator light serves both oil pressure and temperature switches. DO NOT
confuse the ENGINE light with CHECK ENGINE light. Temperature switch wire MUST be disconnected before testing oil pressure switch circuit.
