Temperature Gauge

  1. Ensure cooling system is functioning properly. Disconnect sending unit harness connector. Using 73-ohm resistor (or Rotunda Instrument Gauge Tester (021-00055) set at 73 ohms), connect resistor(or tester) between sending unit harness connector and ground. Turn ignition on, leaving engine off.
  2. If gauge reads COLD, replace 73-ohm resistor with 10-ohm resistor (or set tester at 10 ohms). Gauge should now read HOT. If gauge reads as described, replace sending unit. If gauge does not read as described, check wiring circuit for open or short. If no problem exists in wiring circuit, replace gauge. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER R & I  .
