Oil Pressure Gauge

  1. Ensure battery voltage is present at fuses and battery terminal of cluster connector. See appropriate chassis wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER R & I  . If gauge pointer does not move when engine is running and other gauges are operating normally, check engine oil pressure using manual gauge and test equipment. If engine oil pressure is normal with manual gauge installed, turn off engine.
  2. Connect jumper wire between oil pressure sensor harness connector and ground.
  3. Turn ignition on with engine off. If gauge reads at mid-scale, replace sensor unit. If gauge does not read at mid-scale, use DVOM to check for open or short in wiring circuit from sensor to cluster; repair as required. If no problem exists in circuit, replace gauge.
CAUTION: DO NOT  apply 12 volts or a ground directly to temperature sender terminal during tests. Sender and gauge will be damaged.
