Magnetic Oil Pressure & Temperature Gauges
Oil pressure and temperature gauge indicating systems consist only of an engine-mounted variable resistance sending unit and cluster gauge. As oil pressure and coolant temperature increases, resistance in each sending unit decreases, allowing increase of current flow from gauge to sending unit ground. This current flow through gauge causes gauge pointer position.
The pointer of a magnetic-type gauge will remain in position when ignition is turned off, and will move to a new, correct reading when ignition is turned on again. Magnetic-type gauges do not require an Instrument Voltage Regulator (IVR). Also, magnetic-type gauges are not adjustable and can not be calibrated.
