Wheel Hub & Bearings: Removal

  1. Remove steering knuckle/wheel hub assembly. See REMOVAL under STEERING KNUCKLE. Remove and discard grease seal.
  2. Remove hub assembly from steering knuckle using Puller (T87C-1104-A). See Fig 1 . If inner bearing race stays on hub, grind a section of race to within .197" (5 mm) of the hub. Use a chisel at indent to remove race.

  3. Remove snap ring from steering knuckle. Remove wheel bearing using Puller (T87C-1104-A). Leave dust shield on steering knuckle unless damaged.
