Removal (Sable & Taurus)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable and drain cooling system. Remove accessory drive belts. Disconnect coolant hoses from water pump.
  2. Raise and support vehicle. Remove right front wheel. Remove retaining bolts and crankshaft pulley. Remove crankshaft damper retaining bolt. Using Crankshaft Damper Remover (T58P-6316-D) and Adapter (T28L-6316-B), remove crankshaft damper.
  3. Remove oil pan. See OIL PAN  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove retaining bolts, front cover (with water pump) and gasket. See Fig 1.
