Removal (Probe)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Remove accessory drive belts and automatic tensioners. Raise and support vehicle. Remove right front wheel. Remove plastic inner fender shield.
  2. Support engine with floor jack. Remove right engine mount and spacer from water pump bracket (M/T equipped models). Remove upper engine mount at timing belt cover. Lower floor jack, allowing engine to rest on remaining mounts.
  3. Remove crankshaft damper bolt. Using Crankshaft Damper Remover (T58P-6316-D), remove crankshaft damper from crankshaft. Remove right subframe-to-body bolts/nuts. Pull subframe downward and remove crankshaft damper.
  4. Disconnect water pump connection from front cover. Remove oil pan. See OIL PAN . Remove lower front cover bolts. Lower vehicle. Remove retaining bolts, front cover and gasket.
