Front Cover R & I: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Coat all front cover bolt threads with engine oil except No. 2 and No. 5 bolts. Apply thread sealant to No. 2 and No. 5 bolt threads. See Fig 1.

  2. Tighten the front cover retaining bolts to correct specification and in proper sequence. See Fig 1. Also refer to the TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table at end of article. Coat seal lip and crankshaft damper surface with engine oil before installing. Use Seal Installer (T70P-6B070-A), to install seal (if removed).
  3. Apply Sealant (D6AZ-19562-AA) to crankshaft damper keyway before installing damper. Tighten bolts/nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table at end of article.


  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Use sealant on specified bolts. See Figure. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table at end of article.
  2. Coat seal lip and crankshaft damper surface with engine oil before installing. Use Seal Installer (T70P-6B070-A), to install seal (if removed).
  3. Apply Sealant (D6AZ-19562-BA) to crankshaft damper keyway before installing damper. Tighten bolts/nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table at end of article.
