Removal (Sable & Taurus)
- Release fuel pressure and disconnect fuel lines. See, in this article, FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE & FUEL LINE CONNECTIONS .
- Remove battery and battery tray. Drain cooling system. Remove hood and air cleaner assembly. Discharge A/C system. Remove cooling fan and shroud. Remove harness bracket from right strut tower.
- Disconnect necessary electrical connections, coolant hoses, vacuum hoses and ventilation hoses. Remove starter brace. Disconnect exhaust pipe at manifold.
- Disconnect lines at power steering pump. Disconnect ground straps. Disconnect control cables at throttle body. On A/T equipped models, remove torque converter-to-flexplate bolts.
- On all models, support front of transaxle with floor jack. Remove transaxle-to-cylinder block bolts. Remove engine mount bolts. Separate engine from transaxle and lift engine from vehicle.
