Water Pump: Installation

  1. Lightly oil all bolt and stud threads before installation, EXCEPT specified bolt on Sable and Taurus that requires sealant. See Figure. Sealant is necessary to prevent coolant leaks. Apply Contact Adhesive (D7AZ-19B508-A) to new gasket and position on water pump.
  2. Install water pump and pulley as an assembly. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts and nuts to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  at end of article. Fill cooling system with Ford Cooling System Fluid (E2FZ-19549-A) only. Leak check system.
