Rear Brake Shoes: Removal
- Remove grease cap from hub. Remove cotter pin and hub retaining nut. Remove flat washer and outer bearing. Remove wheel, drum and hub assembly as a unit; be careful not to drag seal across spindle threads.
- Remove brake shoe return springs and anti-rattle spring. Remove brake shoe hold-down springs. Using a screwdriver, push in and twist hold-down spring to disengage it from hold-down pin.
- Remove rear brake shoe from parking brake strut. Remove front brake shoe. Remove wheel cylinder (if necessary).NOTE: Unless broken or worn, leave parking brake strut adjuster mechanism and adjuster spring in place.
