Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Coat camshaft and camshaft bearing caps with engine oil before installing. Install camshaft with dowel pin at 12 o'clock position.
  2. Apply silicone sealant in front and rear camshaft bearing cap areas. See Figure. Install camshaft bearing caps with arrow pointing toward front of engine.
    CAUTION: Install camshaft bearing caps in original location with arrow toward front of engine. The No. 3 bearing cap contains an oil passage from cylinder head and must be installed in correct location. Apply silicone sealant in front and rear camshaft bearing cap areas. See Figure.
  3. To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Install components in original location. Ensure all timing marks are aligned. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table at end of article.
