Test Te: Oil Pressure Gauge Blinks Oil Can Symbol; Top 2 & Bottom 2 Segment Bars Illuminated

  1. Check For Oil Pressure Sending Unit Short

    Disconnect oil pressure sending unit connector located near waterpump beneath alternator. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Oil pressure gauge should indicate low oil pressure (bottom bar of display illuminated). If oil pressure gauge is functioning as specified, replace oil pressure sending unit. If oil pressure gauge is not functioning as specified, go to next step.

  2. Check For Short In Wiring

    Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC). See ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DVOM, measure resistance between EIC connector "B" terminals No. 5 (White/Red wire) and No. 8 (Black/White wire). If resistance is 10 k-ohms or more, replace EIC. If resistance is less than 10 k-ohms, repair short in White/Red wire between oil pressure sender and EIC. See Figure .
