Test FE: Fuel Tank Does Not Display "F" When Tank Is Full; "Cs" Is Displayed; Display Blanks Out Tank Symbol; Top 2 & Bottom 2 Segment Bars Are Illuminated
- Check Fuel Tank Sending Unit Wiring At Cluster
Remove Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC), and insulate connectors from any possible shorting. See ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DVOM, measure resistance between EIC connector "B" terminals No. 6 circuit 29 (Yellow/White wire) and No. 8 circuit 359 (Black/White wire). See Figure
. If DVOM reading is 9-161 ohms, replace EIC. If DVOM reading is not 9-161 ohms, a short exists in wiring harness or fuel tank sending unit. Go to next step.
- Check Fuel Tank Sending Unit Wiring
Disconnect negative battery cable. Lower fuel tank to gain access to fuel tank sending unit connector. Unplug fuel tank sending unit connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between EIC connector "B" terminals No. 6 circuit 29 (Yellow/White wire) and No. 8 circuit 359 (Black/White wire). See Figure
. If resistance is greater than 10 k-ohms, replace fuel tank sending unit. If resistance is less than 10 k-ohms, repair short in fuel tank sending unit wiring circuit 29 (Yellow/White wire).
