Display Does Not Respond To Buttons
- Cluster only responds to buttons when ignition is in RUN position. Warning chime module will not beep if another sound is being produced. If display does not respond to buttons, go to step 3).
- If no beep sounds, but display responds to buttons/warnings, check for fasten safety belt reminder chime or key left in ignition chime. If chime sounds, go to step 6). If no chime sounds, service warning chime module.
- Remove finish panel to expose cluster. Ensure that connectors at switch assembly are secure. If connectors are not secure, secure connectors and retest.
- If connectors are secure, unplug switch assembly from electronic instrument cluster (6-pin connector is located at front face of cluster to far right). Measure resistance between pin No. 2 (Yellow wire) and pin No. 4 (Orange wire) of unplugged connector. Resistance should be as follows:
- E/M button should be 49-54k/ohms.
- SELECT button should be 22-24k/ohms.
- SPEED button should be 320-360 ohms.
- RESET button should be 980-985 ohms.
With no buttons pressed resistance should be 17-178k/ohms.
NOTE: Press only one button at a time. Wiggle wire at 6-pin switch connector and at switch module and check for loose connections - Visually inspect 6-pin switch connector for poor/damaged or missing connections. If cluster pin is damaged or missing, replace cluster and affix odometer sticker to door pillar. If switch module pins are damaged or missing, replace switch module. If all pins are okay, replace cluster and affix odometer sticker to door pillar.
- Disconnect battery ground cable. Remove cluster. Turn ignition switch to RUN position and wait for fasten seat belt reminder chime to end. Place jumper wire between pin No. 19 of harness cluster connector "A" and listen for chime. If chime sounds, replace cluster and affix odometer sticker to door pillar. If chime does not sound, check wiring in circuit No. 183 for open. Check for correct warning chime module part number or operation.
