Description & Operation: Notes

The electronic instrument cluster is a single module containing an electronic speedometer/odometer/tachometer, fuel computer, system scanner and electronic fuel and engine temperature gauges. Also included are the following warning lights: AIR BAG, ANTI-LOCK, BATTERY, BRAKES, CHECK ENGINE, HIGH BEAMS, LEFT TURN INDICATOR, OIL PRESSURE, RIGHT TURN INDICATOR and SAFETY BELT.

The electronic instrument cluster operates only when ignition switch is in RUN position. Vacuum fluorescent displays are powered by a non-serviceable internal power supply (illumination bulbs are not used). When headlights are turned on, cluster will dim according to rheostat position.

Each time ignition switch is first turned from OFF to RUN position, the electronic displays of module will self-test by momentarily lighting all display segments and then momentarily turning all display segments off. After self-test, module will return to normal operation.
