Valve Guides

  1. Valve guide can be replaced if valve stem oil clearance is not within specification. See ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS tables at end of article.
  2. To remove valve guide, heat cylinder head in water to approximately 194°F (90°C). Using Valve Guide Remover/Installer (T87C-6510-A) and hammer, drive valve guide toward the camshaft side of the cylinder head.
  3. To install, use valve guide remover/installer and install valve guide until valve guide protrusion is .752-.772" (19.10-19.61 mm) above cylinder head, second step. See Fig 1.
NOTE: Exhaust valve guides are used as replacements for intake valve guides.
