Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Coat camshaft and camshaft bearing caps with engine oil prior to installation. Install camshaft with dowel pin facing straight up.
  2. Apply silicone sealant in front and rear camshaft bearing cap areas prior to installation. See Figure. Install camshaft bearing caps with ARROW pointing toward front of engine.
    CAUTION: Camshaft bearing caps must be installed in original location with ARROW toward front of the engine. The No. 3 bearing cap contains an oil passage from the cylinder head and must be installed in correct location. Silicone sealant must be applied in front and rear camshaft bearing cap areas prior to installation. See Figure.
  3. To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Ensure components are installed in original location. Ensure all timing marks are aligned. See Figure.
