Oil Pressure Gauge Testing

  1. Disconnect oil pressure sending unit connector. Oil pressure switch connector is located on right side of engine behind alternator. Using Gauge System Tester (Rotunda 021-00055), connect one lead of tester to Yellow/Red wire of oil pressure sending unit connector and other lead to ground.
  2. Set tester to resistance values. See Fig 1 .

  3. Turn ignition on and check to see that needle indicator displays correct values. Continue inspection for 2 minutes on each setting to correctly judge condition of oil pressure gauge. Allowable error is twice the with of gauge needle.
  4. If oil pressure gauge reads correctly, replace oil pressure sending unit. If oil pressure gauge does not read correctly, replace oil pressure gauge.
