Removal (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Mark VII, Sable, Taurus & Town Car)
- Ensure front wheels are in straight-ahead position and steering shaft alignment mark is at 12 o'clock position. Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Remove air bag module retaining nuts from recesses on steering wheel. See Figure and Figure. Lift air bag module from steering wheel and disconnect clockspring electrical connector from module.
- Disconnect cruise control/horn switch electrical connector from contact assembly electrical connector at center of steering wheel. Remove steering wheel bolt.
- Using a steering wheel puller, remove steering wheel. Route contact assembly and clockspring wiring harnesses through steering wheel as wheel is removed.
