Disc Brake Caliper - Rear (Except Mark VII & Probe): Reassembly
- Apply light coat of Silicone Dielectric Compound (D7AZ-19A331-A) to parking brake lever shaft and bore and seal. Press parking brake lever seal into bore and install lever. Install retaining bolt and tighten to 60-84 INCH lbs. (7-10 N.m). Install return spring.
- Position strut pin in bore and in recess of parking brake lever shaft. Install new "O" ring on push rod and insert push rod into push rod bore of caliper. Ensure strut pin is positioned correctly between shaft recess at end of push rod.
- Place key plate over push rod so locating tab fits into drilled locating hole in caliper. Install flat washer, push rod, spring and spring cover. Using Snap Ring Installer (T87P-2588-B), insert outer installer spacer into piston bore.
- Insert inner installer spacer into piston bore. Place snap ring inside of inner spacer. Position installer spring compressor, screw and crossblock on push rod. Lightly screw installer clockwise to compress spring. Install snap ring.
- Lubricate seal, dust boot, piston and bore with clean brake fluid. Install new piston seal in bore groove. Install dust boot in piston bore. Spread dust boot over piston and seat in piston groove. Using Brake Piston Remover (T75P-2588-B), rotate piston clockwise until piston is fully seated. Ensure one slot in piston will engage tab on disc pad.
- To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Bleed and adjust brakes as necessary.
