Removal (E150/350)

  1. Remove engine cover, air cleaner, air inlet tubes and EGR valve. On models with A/C, discharge system and remove A/C compressor.
  2. On all models, remove upper intake manifold and throttle body. See appropriate article in ENGINES for upper intake manifold service.
    CAUTION: Fuel system is under pressure. Pressure must be released before disconnecting fuel system components. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE at beginning of this article.
  3. On E250 heavy duty models and E350 models, disconnect thermactor check valve inlet hose and remove check valve.
  4. On all models, drain engine oil and cooling system. Remove upper and lower radiator hoses. Unbolt fan shroud and reposition back on cooling fan.
  5. On A/T models, disconnect oil cooler lines at radiator and remove transmission oil filler tube. Disconnect exhaust pipe at exhaust manifold. Remove front engine mount nuts. Remove power steering return line clip at the front crossmember. Remove oil dipstick and starter.
  6. Raise engine approximately 3" and place wooden block under engine mounts. Remove oil pan bolts. Remove oil pick-up tube from oil pump. Remove oil pan and gaskets.
