Cylinder Head: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove upper and lower intake manifolds. See INTAKE MANIFOLD  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in this article. Remove rocker shaft assembly. See, in this article, VALVE COVER & ROCKER ARM SHAFT ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove push rods and keep in order for installation to original location.
  2. Remove exhaust manifold from cylinder head. Loosen and remove cylinder head bolts evenly. Discard cylinder head bolts. Remove cylinder head. Remove and discard cylinder head gasket.
