Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Removal

  1. Remove upper and lower intake manifolds. See, in this article, INTAKE MANIFOLD  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove rocker arm shaft assemblies and push rods. See, in this article, VALVE COVER & ROCKER ARM SHAFT ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Remove timing chain and camshaft sprocket. See, in this article, TIMING CHAIN & SPROCKETS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove valve lifters and keep in order for installation to original location.
  3. Remove camshaft thrust plate and spacer ring. Carefully remove camshaft out of cylinder block.
