Pinion Flange & Oil Seal: Removal
- Raise vehicle. Remove wheel assemblies and brake drums. Scribe alignment marks on companion flange and driveshaft end yoke for installation reference. Remove driveshaft.
- Install plug in transmission extension housing to prevent oil leakage. Using an INCH lb. torque wrench, measure and record torque required to rotate pinion through several revolutions.
- Mark companion flange or end yoke in relation to pinion shaft for installation reference. Hold companion flange or end yoke and remove pinion nut. Using Puller (T77F-4220-B), remove companion flange. Using a screwdriver, remove pinion seal.
