Wheel Bearings (4WD W/Manual Locking Hubs)

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove locking hub assembly. See MANUAL LOCKING HUBS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using Four-Prong Spindle Nut Spanner Wrench (T83T-1197-B), remove outer wheel bearing locknut from spindle. Ensure tabs on tool engage the slots on locknut. Remove locknut washer from spindle.
  2. Loosen inner wheel bearing locknut using Four-Prong Spindle Nut Spanner Wrench (T83T-1197-B). Ensure tabs on tool engage the slots in locknut and the slot in tool is centered over locknut pin.
  3. Tighten inner locknut to 35 ft. lbs. (47 N.m) to seat bearings. Spin rotor and back off inner locknut 1/4 turn. Retighten inner locknut to 16 in. lbs. (1.8 N.m).
  4. Install lockwasher on spindle. Turn inner lock nut slightly if necessary, so that pin on inner locknut aligns with the closest hole in lockwasher.
  5. Install outer locknut using Four-Prong Spindle Nut Spanner Wrench (T83T-1197-B). Tighten locknut to 150 ft. lbs. (203 N.m). Install locking hub. See MANUAL LOCKING HUBS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
