Removal Without Key (Bronco, "E" & "F" Series With Non-Tilt Steering)
NOTE:
This procedure is used for removing ignition lock cylinder when key is missing or cylinder is frozen.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove steering wheel and pad assembly. Remove turn signal lever from steering column. Remove steering column trim shrouds from steering column. Separate and lower steering assembly from brake pedal support bracket to gain access to ignition switch. Remove ignition switch and key warning buzzer terminal. Pin ignition switch in LOCK position.
- Remove turn signal switch from steering column assembly. Remove upper bearing snap ring and 2 "T" bolt retaining nuts that secure flange casting to outer tube. Remove entire flange casting assembly. Remove upper shaft bearing and lock cylinder assembly. Remove ignition switch actuator and ignition switch actuator rod by pulling assembly over steering column shaft end. Remove lock actuator insert and "T" bolts. Remove "PRND2 1" insert on A/T, key release lever assembly on M/T.
