Calibration Test (Without Tester)

  1. Test the oil pressure gauge with a 10-ohm resistor for high calibration and a 73-ohm resistor for low.
  2. Turn ignition on and connect a 10-ohm resistor between gauge lead and ground. The pointer should read at midrange on scale. Connect the 73-ohm resistor in place of the 10-ohm resistor. Gauge should now read around the "L" mark.
  3. If the gauge checks out of calibration, replace gauge and retest. If check within calibration, replace oil pressure sender. See appropriate chassis wiring diagram in the WIRING DIAGRAMS section.
