Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Removal

  1. Remove engine and transaxle. Drain engine oil. Remove accessory belts, pulley, cylinder head, and distributor assembly.
  2. Using a magnet, remove lifters. Keep in order of removal to ensure lifters are installed to original location. Remove front cover timing chain and sprockets. Check camshaft end play.
  3. Remove camshaft thrust plate. Pull camshaft out front of engine, using care not to damage journals or bearings.
