Hydraulic Lifter Clearance

  1. Place No. 1 piston on TDC of compression stroke. Install Lifter Collapser (T81P-6500-A) on No. 1 intake rocker arm.
  2. Slowly apply pressure until lifter is completely bottomed. Check clearance between rocker arm and valve stem tip. If not within specifications, replace components as necessary. See COLLAPSED LIFTER CLEARANCE table.
  3. With engine at TDC, check clearance on No. 1 intake, No. 1 exhaust, No. 2 intake and No. 3 exhaust. Rotate crankshaft 180 degrees and check clearance on No. 2 exhaust, No. 3 intake, No. 4 intake and No. 4 exhaust.

NOTE: For reassembly reference, label all electrical connectors, vacuum hoses and fuel lines before removal. Also place mating marks on engine hood and other major assemblies before removal.
