Intake Manifold: Removal

  1. Fuel pressure must be released. Disconnect fuel pump relay. See Figure. Start engine and operate until it stalls. Disconnect negative battery cable. Reconnect fuel pump relay.
  2. Drain cooling system. Disconnect necessary coolant hoses and vacuum lines. Disconnect throttle body control cables and air intake duct. Remove all hose, wiring and control cable brackets.
  3. Remove PCV hose from upper intake manifold. Remove upper intake manifold and gasket. See Figure. Disconnect fuel lines from fuel rail. Disconnect fuel injector electrical connections and coolant temperature switch (if equipped).
  4. Disconnect all fuel line brackets from intake manifold. Remove fuel rail bolts, spacers and fuel rail with fuel injectors. Disconnect EGR pipe. Remove lower intake manifold bolts, manifold and gasket.
