Rear Caliper Adjustment - Mark VII

NOTE: On Mark VII models, it is possible to overadjust rear brakes. A partial brake system failure with only rear brakes operational, can be encountered. Check and adjust piston position and perform caliper adjustment.
  1. Start engine and let idle. Pump brakes lightly about 40 times. Allow at least one second between pedal applications. Check parking brake for excess travel and very light effort. If either condition exists, repeat pumping brakes.
  2. If either condition still exists, check parking brake cable for proper tension. Parking brake lever at caliper must return to full stop position when released. See appropiate PARKING BRAKE under ADJUSTMENTS  in this article.
