Front Parking Brake Cable (AEROSTAR): Removal

  1. Place control in "released" position and insert lock pin in control assembly. Refer to ADJUSTMENTS and see RELEASING CABLE TENSION under PARKING BRAKE (AEROSTAR)  . Disconnect rear parking brake cables from equalizer. Remove equalizer from front cable. Remove bolts retaining cover to underbody reinforcement bracket. Remove cover.
    NOTE: It may be necessary to loosen fuel tank straps and partially lower fuel tank to gain access to cover.
  2. Insert 1/2 inch box end twelve-point wrench over rear fitting of front cable. Push wrench onto cable retainer fitting in crossmember. Compress retainer fingers and push retainer forward through hold.
  3. Remove cable anchor pin from pivot hole in control assembly ratchet plate. Guide front cable from control assembly. Insert 1/2 inch box end twelve point distributor lock bolt wrench over front fitting of front cable. Push wrench onto cable retainer fitting in crossmember. Compress retainer fingers and push retainer rearward through hole. Pull cable ends through crossmembers and remove cable.
